![]() ![]() On the Home Front, knitting served as one more way Americans back home could support the war effort. Thousands of volunteers picked up their needles to knit socks, mufflers and sweaters to keep U.S. soldiers warm and provide them with a reminder of home. With The National WWII Museum’s Knit-Your-Bit program, you can keep this tradition alive by knitting a scarf for a veteran. Since 2006, we have collected almost 10,000 scarves from knitters around the country and distributed them to VA centers throughout the country. It’s easy to participate! 1. We have many patterns to choose from, or feel free to create your own. Please keep your color scheme gender neutral.
3. Include care/washing instructions. Please attach directly to scarf.
4. Include your mailing address and email in your correspondence.
5. Mail to: The National World War II Museum We’ll take care of the rest! If you have any questions, be sure to check out our FAQs or contact Lauren Handley, Education Programs Coordinator, at lauren.handley@nationalww2museum.org or call 504-528-1944 ext. 229. |
